Back in 1999, two tiny start-ups on two separate continents had a startlingly similar mission: to build a comprehensive technology platform to remove some of the time-consuming, manual, spreadsheet-based processes that bogged down those in hospitality. Over the years, each company worked hard, grew, and made a name for itself. Then, in July 2019, those two companies, neither of which was quite so tiny any more, merged to fulfill their mission together as Fourth.

Today, our inventory management and workforce management solutions, coupled with the industry’s most complete data and analytics suite, give operators the actionable insights they need to control costs, scale profitability, improve employee engagement, and maintain compliance. 

As we move into this next era, we are proud to be doing our part to advance the Fourth Industrial Revolution for the hospitality industry. When it comes to serving the hospitality industry, it’s not just a job. It’s a calling. That’s partially because so many of us come from a background in restaurants, hotels or other hospitality businesses, so we can truly relate to the everyday challenges and frustrations, victories and achievements. We couldn’t be more proud to spend our days delivering great products, solutions and services that make working in hospitality more rewarding.

Ben Hood is Chief Executive Officer at Fourth and HotSchedules. Ben has spent his career in retail and hospitality. He trained with Tesco where he focused in retail operations and spent two years with Cap Gemini on the Tesco future team. After eleven years, he joined Fourth as employee #1 and worked closely with the Lilleys (Fourth’s founders) in developing our vision. He has been the driving force behind our strategy, has successfully acquired eight businesses and oversaw the 2011 management buyout, the 2015 acquisition by Insight Venture Partners and the current merger of Fourth and HotSchedules. Ben enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, playing sport and trying to keep fit.

David Cantu

David Cantu is Chief Customer Officer and the Co-founder of HotSchedules. He is responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with customers by engaging with them at all levels to collect and disseminate customer feedback throughout the company.

David’s 17+ years of restaurant operations experience have contributed to HotSchedules’ product development and innovative solutions to improve restaurant operations scheduling efficiencies, labour management, and increased employee engagement. David attended the University of Texas at San Antonio, and lives in Austin, Texas with his wife and three children. He is an active member of Vistage International, an executive peer advisory program, and enjoys running, fishing, water sports, volunteering with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Texas and escaping to the wine country or beach whenever possible.

Simon Bocca

Simon Bocca is Chief Growth Officer responsible for the Sales and Marketing teams. Simon joined Fourth in 2004. Before then, he enjoyed a ten-year career at The Savoy Group, including management positions in hotels and corporate offices. He’s responsible for the operational strategy, which includes implementation, customer service, bureau services, sales and marketing. Simon enjoys lots of eating out, which is offset by cycling with his two black Labradors

Matt Leone

Matt Leone is the Chief Operating Officer leading the Customer Management organisation, Global Enterprise Services team, and Business Operations team. Matt has over 20 years in the software industry sector where he held numerous executive leadership positions. Most recently he served as Global Head of SAP Cloud Adoption and Revenue Retention, including one of SAP’s largest Cloud units, SuccessFactors. Prior to that role, Matt spent 11 years at Ariba, an SAP company. He earned a BS in Finance from the University of Arizona, Eller College of Management.

Christian Berthelsen

Christian Berthelsen is Chief Technology Officer of Fourth and HotSchedules. Early in his career Christian developed web applications and inventory control solutions at FnBshop.com, a private SaaS company he co-founded and sold to Fourth in 2003. He has over 21 years of software engineering and management experience, and oversees the product roadmap, development and infrastructure of all our software. Christian enjoys scuba diving, Formula One and trips to his native Copenhagen.
