Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
In 2020, Fourth created a Diversity and Inclusion Committee composed of employees from virtually every department and location where we operate. Together, we developed our mission, sub-committees and achievable, measurable goals. Read on to learn more about what we are committed to at Fourth.
Our D&I Mission Statement
To build awareness of injustice and develop programs to increase diversity, inclusion, equality and belonging within Fourth and in the communities where we work and live. Together, we will make a difference in how we value, honour and treat one another.
Because we had so many volunteers for our D&I Committee, the following four sub-committees were formed to ensure each person could contribute to the overall mission using their skills and talents in several areas.

Recruitment / Career Development Committee
We are committed to recruiting, hiring and retaining a diverse workforce by:
- Intentionally seeking-out diverse candidates through inclusive advertising, non-traditional selection criteria, and ever-evolving recruitment strategies.
- Ensuring that all candidates’ interviewing, hiring, and orientation experiences are inclusive and welcoming.
- Training recruiters and interviewers to recognise unconscious bias.
- Consistently evaluating each department’s make-up, career development, and compensation practices to ensure they are fair and balanced.
Inclusion / Safe Spaces Committee
It is not the responsibility of one individual to feel included, it is the responsibility of all of us to make everyone feel welcomed. We understand that considering inclusivity in all decisions made within our organisation is critical to delivering against our overall mission. We are committed to working with all of the other sub-committees to ensure:
- That inclusivity features as a key theme throughout the entire employee lifecycle
- That our interactions with customers, partners and suppliers are true to our core belief as outlined in our Mission
- That key decisions in the business are held to a standard to ensure they are appropriate for all impacted individuals and groups
- That we are welcoming in every aspect of what we do, ensuring we don’t intentionally/unintentionally make someone feel unwelcome
- We further commit that the physical and emotional or virtual spaces we inhabit will reflect these values and will be:
- Appropriate for use by all team-members, customers, suppliers and partners
- Safe and comfortable environments for anyone occupying them
- Create a safe space for communication so that people can speak out if they feel there is opportunity to do something differently, without retaliation or retribution

Fourth as an organisation spans many countries and cities. Some of our offices are located in countries where indigenous communities were forcibly removed from their land and suffered immeasurable cultural and human loss due to colonialism.
In the present day, we recognise that many of these indigenous communities and individuals face continued challenges due to this past colonisation. As a starting point for our continued journey in supporting indigenous communities, we want to acknowledge the indigenous communities that have a traditional and ongoing relationship with the land that Fourth and our employees work and live on.
Our office in Sydney, Australia, is built on the traditional land of the Gadigal, who are part of the Eora Nation. We wish to acknowledge that they are the traditional custodians of this land in the past, present and future; and pay our respects to the Elders who have been, are here now, and who will be.
In the United States, we have offices in Austin, Atlanta, Denver and Tampa. In Austin, the city is built on the traditional lands of the Lipan Apache, Jumano and Tonkawa tribes; the Tāp Pīlam Coahuiltecan Nation; and the Nʉmʉnʉʉ Sookobitʉ (Comanche) Nation. In Atlanta the city was built on the traditional lands of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation and ᏣᎳᎫᏪᏘᏱ Tsalaguwetiyi (Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians). In Denver the city was built on the traditional lands of the Očhéthi Šakówiŋ (Sioux Nations), Núu-agha-tʉvʉ-pʉ̱ (Ute Tribe), and Tséstho’e (Northern Cheyenne and Cheyenne & Arapaho Tribes). Tampa is built on the traditional lands of the Safety Harbor culture and Tocobaga peoples, who did not survive colonisation, and so we recognise the Seminole as the extant traditional owners. We wish to acknowledge that these tribes and nations are the traditional custodians of this land; and pay our respects to the leaders and community members who ensure the continued survival and flourishing of their nations and tribes.
